FREEcure expands the possibilities of industrial UV curing through a particularly high proportion of short-wave UV radiation. With suitable formulations, the water-cooled UV system enables curing without photoinitiators or with a significantly reduced photoinitiator content.
This makes FREEcure an attractive process option for printing inks, coatings and finishes – including applications in packaging printing and the wood and wood-based materials industry.
FREEcure is based on the proven BLK system and uses a specially designed medium-pressure UV lamp with an increased UVC output. In formulations specifically designed for this purpose, the short-wave spectral range in particular supports direct photochemical initiation and crosslinking.
This allows suitable coating and ink systems to be formulated without photoinitiators or with a reduced photoinitiator content compared with conventional formulations.
Whether completely photoinitiator-free curing is possible depends on the specific formulation and process conditions.
Experience the benefits of our pioneering UV curing technology with FREEcure - completely without photoinitiators. FREEcure revolutionises UV printing and is therefore ideal for packaging printing applications, especially for food. In the wood and wood-based materials industry, FREEcure also ensures reduced interior emissions and a particularly scratch-resistant surface thanks to close cross-linking.
A special plus: FREEcure enables the partial or complete replacement of conventional ESH systems and therefore also the elimination of acid-curing, formaldehyde-releasing coatings. This allows you to combine performance with environmentally friendly coatings.
FREEcure not only offers ecological benefits, but also saves energy as fewer UV units are required. This not only lowers energy consumption, but also reduces the need for spare parts and thus brings cost benefits for your company.

The BLK was developed for the highest industrial requirements. Compared to conventional UV systems, there is an extraordinary increase in drying performance with the FREEcure. This means more productivity at reduced operating costs. Based on the proven IST UV system BLK, a system was developed, resulting in an increased performance of more than 70% in the process relevant UVC spectral range. This was achieved by a coordinated package of measures including the following points:
