Demand-Based Power Settings for LED UV Curing Processes

SMARTcure is our AI-assisted control system for LED UV curing processes. The system analyzes job- and process-related data and helps adapt the output of the curing system to the specific production conditions. This helps avoid using LED UV output where it is not required for the current job.

Modern interfaces, cloud connectivity and the analysis of operating data also support process optimization and maintenance planning.

How SMARTcure works

SMARTcure combines production process data with an AI-based model. After the print data has been retrieved and stored locally, the job data intended for analysis is transferred to the IST Cloud via an encrypted connection.

The AI-based model analyzes the available job and process data and uses it to determine a recommended power setting for the LED UV system for each specific job.

This allows the power output to be adapted to the production conditions. The aim is to avoid unnecessary energy consumption while achieving the curing performance required for the specific process.

Users can evaluate the curing result and provide feedback to the system. This feedback contributes to the further development of the AI model and helps optimize future power recommendations.

The user interface provides a clear overview of the information relevant to process control and assists users in configuring the LED UV curing system for each specific job.

SMARTcure features and benefits

AI-based power recommendations

SMARTcure takes available process information such as substrate, printing ink, coating and format into account. Based on this data, the system supports job-specific adjustment of the LED UV output.

Format-dependent LED zone control

SMARTcure detects the format to be printed and controls the required LED segments accordingly. LED zones outside the required format can be switched off. This avoids power consumption by LED segments that are not needed.

Demand-based control can also reduce the operating time of individual LED segments.

Cloud-based data processing

SMARTcure uses an SSL-encrypted cloud connection to transfer and analyze the designated process and operating data. The data can be used for process optimization, maintenance planning and further development of the AI model.

The servers of IST METZ GmbH & Co. KG are located in a data center in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

Variable LED zone control and cycling make it possible to adapt the operation of the LED UV system to the specific production job.

SMARTcure and LEDcure NX

SMARTcure is available for the LEDcure NX LED UV system. The combination of LED UV technology, job-specific process data analysis and intelligent control supports demand-based operation of the curing system.

Warranty and service conditions

For suitably equipped systems, a warranty of up to ten years is available. This is subject to the applicable warranty terms and the required operating and service conditions.

These include:

  • continuous internet connection and system update capability
  • remote access for IST customer service
  • maintenance agreement with regular service intervals
  • online fault diagnostics and system optimization
  • active use of SMARTcure
